Abstract

This research has been conducted to cooperate with the dry storage that has been presened previously. Electrical heaters were used in the previous research (Dry Storage) which is unsuitable for rural areas and rather expensive. The main purpose of this research is aimed at adaptation of wastes from industries and agricultural products to be used as fuels in appropriate stoves. Four types of stoves were disigned and two of them selected for this research. The 4 stoves give almost the same result. The second and the third types are rather complicate in construction and costly; heat loss is also high. Stove no. 1 and 2 have been selected for this research. The test results show that liverated heat from these two stoves is much greater than required. In some tests the steel grids even melted.

Abstract

The effects of temperature and modified atmosphere on Brussels sprouts (Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera) were studied in relation to their quality and storage life. Brussels sprouts in plastic baskets lost their weight and chlorophyll very rapidly at room temperature (31'C) while weight losses of those in sealed plastic bags were almost completely stopped but chlorophyll loss still took place. Chlorophyll loss was delayed at low temperature. High temperature caused Brussels sprouts in sealed plastic bags to develop internal browning and off-oder, and added CO2 in sealed plastic bags increased the severity of disorders but had no effect at low temperature (1? and 5?C). Brussels sprouts in plastic baskets deteriorated very rapidly and had storage life only 3 days while those in sealed plastic bags and held at 1?C had storage life up to 5 weeks.

Abstract

The study of different land preparations and planting methods on the growth and yield of soybean after rice was conducted at Kapangsean Campus of Kasetsart University between January - April 1984. The different land preparations were 1) tillage; 2) no-tillage + straw burned; 3) no-tillage + no straw burned, and 4) no-tillage + rice stubble left over; and three planting methods of 1) drill planting, 2) hill planting, and 3) broadcasting were alternatively arranged into eight treatments. Soybean variety S.J. 4 was planted using the seeding rate of 62.5 kglha. The result of the study indicated that no-tillage + straw burned method provided efficient weed control measures as similar to the tillage operation. Without straw burning, weed infestation was high. The yield of soybean in the tillage plots was higher than no-tillage + straw burned treatments, because tillage provided a better root condition for soybean growth. The yield of no-tillage + no straw burned was low due to weed infestation. Seed size of soybean on no-tillage + no straw burned was smaller than those of other treatments due to weed infestation at the later stage of plant development.

Abstract

The dry weight accumulation rate and duration of effective seedfilling period in rnungbean (Vigna radiatn (I,.) Wilczek) varieties CES 87, CES 14, Pag-asa, U-Thong 1 and local variety were measured in three successive experiments planted in the farmer fields in Bangpae district of Rachaburi Province. The objective was to evaluate the relationship between growth rate of individual mungbean seed and grain yield. The result from this study indicated that high yielding varieties of mungbean also had high rate of drymatter accumulation in seed. However, we were not able to demonstrate that relationship between yield and duration of seed filling period existed in mungbean. Positive correlation between rate of seed filling period and yield per plant was found. However, such relationship between rate of seed Filling period and seed size was not obtained.

หัวเรื่อง:ไม่มีชื่อไทย (ชื่ออังกฤษ : The Diffusion Coefficient of Seawater in Ao Si Racha)

ผู้เขียน:ImgMonton Aongponyoskun

สื่อสิ่งพิมพ์:pdf

Abstract

The diffusion coefficient of seawater was calculated by using the statistical procedure of periodicity of the tidal current data. When the autocorrelation coefficient became insignificantly different from zero after some time lag, the estimate of diffusion coefficient of seawater was straightforward. The observed velocities of seawater every 10 minutes had been carried out by using SD 6000 current meter 2 meters below sea surface at Ao Si Racha for 20 days (100?55?00?E, 13?11?08?N or 707750E, 1458474N) in October 2004, May 2005 and September 2005. The order magnitude of the diffusion coefficient of seawater in East-West and North-South direction at Ao Si Racha were in the range of 0.3-1.8 m2/sec. The diffusion coefficient of seawater along the North-South direction was higher than in the East-West direction which agreed well with the stronger tidal current condition in the North-South direction.

Abstract

Thai Supersweet Composite # 1 DMR sweet corns were harvested at milk stage with and without stem intact and stored at room temperature (25"C), 1 ", 5" and 10?C respectively. It was found that sweet corns with stem intact, stored at all tested temperatures had tendency to lose soluble solids and sucrose less than those without stem intact. Sweet corns stored at 1" and 5?C for 4 - 6 days had nearly the same levels of soluble solids and sucrose as freshly harvested sweet corns especially those with stem intact and stored at 1?C. Sweet corns with stem intact and stored at 10?C for 4 - 8 days had sucrose content much more than those without stem intact, All of sweet corns with stem intact lost moisture content from the kernels much more than those without stem intact and caused the fresh kernels wrinkle.

Abstract

An experiment on a short period preservation of sperm of tawes (Puntius gonionotus) was conducted at Department of Aquaculture, Kasetsart University to find out the most suitable diluent using for sperm preservation. Tawes dry milt was devided into 3 parts, the first part was kept as dry milt; second was diluted with rinsing solution, and the rest was diluted with Ringer's solution, in a ratio of 5 parts of dry milt to 3 parts of diluent. All solutions plus dry milt were kept separately in small glass bottles with caps, placed in refrigerator, 4?C. After 24 and 72 hours each of sperm solution was mixed with freshly stripped eggs and fertility was estimated. A number of stripped eggs was also mixed with fresh milt stripped from alive male fish and used as control treatment. Fertilizing rates were 80.64% and 38.68% for milt diluted in Ringer's solution ; 60.17% and 3.71% for milt diluted in rinsing solution; 73.14% and 18.25% for undiluted dry milt; and 89.93% and 81.45% for fresh milt respectively. From statistical analysis, it appeared that tawes's milt can be preserved within 24 hours in Ringer's solution by keeping in refrigerator, 4?C. But for longer period the better diluent must be looked for.

Abstract

'Christian Dior' cut roses at bud stage were pulsed in solutions containing sucrose and sodium benzoate alone or together for 12 or 24 hours before transferring to rain water. The pH of pulsing solutions was adjusted to 4.0 by citric acid. The solution containing 5% sucrose together with 300 ppm sodium benzoate and pulsed for 24 hours gave maximum vase life of cut roses up to 5.9 days with the least bent nect of 18.0% and slight blueing. Cut roses in the control had vase life only 2.1 days with the most bent neck of 69.0% and severe blueing.

Abstract

The studies on floral biology of nine peach cultivars planted at the Royal Ang Khang Station, Fang District, Chiangmai Province were conducted during December 1982 and March 1983. It was found that the maximum receptivity falled between 11.00 am. and 12.00 pm. The cross fertilization of peach with stored pollen was successful but the percentage of fruit set depended on the pollen viability. Storability of pollen at different temperatures showed that O?C storing tended to prolong the viability of pollen compared to those stored at 12?C. Chromosome number of nine peach cultivars was 2n = 16, however, the size was extremely small and lose discernible morphological markers for identification.

Abstract

Pot experiment was established to determine the influences of three nitrogen sources (ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride and urea) and five nitrogen rates (0,O. 64,1.28,1.92 and 2.56 gNlpot or 0,40,80,120 and 160 kgN1rai) on oven-dry forage yields, N yields and N recovery of para grass grown on Nakhon Pathom, Kamphaeng Saen, Muak Lek and Chai Badan soil series. These four soil series were the most common soils used for growing forage crops for dairy production in the western and central parts of Thailand. The experiment was conducted at Kasetsart University (Bangkhen campus) for a period of six months. Oven-dry forage yields and N yields of para grass grown on all soil series applied with different sources of N fertilizer were the highest at N rate of 2.56 gNlpot, but the highest response per unit of N fertilizer used were found at the rates ranged from 0.64 - 1.28 gN1pot. Oven-dry forage yields were increased at the same amount from all N sources and all of the soil series except Muak Lek soil, when fertilizer N were applied at low rate (0.64 gN1pot). However, oven-dry forage yields from urea N source were lower than those from other N sources when fertilizer N were applied at higher rate (1.28 - 2.56 gN1pot) on all of the soil series except Nakhon Pathom soil series which is acid soil. Oven-dry forage yields and N yields of para grass grown on Muak Lek soil series were the highest when fertilizer N were not applied. But oven-dry forage yields and N yields of para grass grown on Chai Badan soil series gave the highest response to all rates of fertilizer N. Recovery of fertilizer N in oven-dry forage yields from all soil series was the highest from ammonium sulfate N source and the lowest from urea N source. Average recovery of fertilizer N in over-dry forage yields grown on Nakhon Pathom (60%), Chai Badan (58%) and Kamphaeng Saen (55%) soil series were higher than that from Muak Lek (44%) soil series.

Abstract

Electron microscopic observations on the gill lamellae of Pla Tapien Khao - Puntius go~rionotus( Bleeker) exposed to different concentrations of copper solution for 48 hr were as follows : particles which were presumably copper origin were attached to the outer surface of the epithelium; these particles were also found in the intercellular spaces; inclusions were found in the cytoplasms of both epithelial cells and chloride cells; a dead cell was noted in one occasion; and at high concentration of copper, intercellular spaces were hardly seen. These evidences showed the difficulties of gas exchange. Thus, it might be concluded that the death of the fish tested was the result of oxygen deficiency.
